Shareable Morse Practice Session

This URL is a settings card, not a multiplayer room. Set speed and module, then use Copy practice link. A Koch example: /practice/#wpm=20&source=koch&lesson=5. QSO seeds live on /qso-sim/?seed=.

How to use shareable practice URLs

This page is not a multiplayer room. It is a bookmarkable Morse drill with settings encoded in the URL hash so you and a friend run the same module, Koch lesson, or QSO seed locally. Scores and progress stay in each browser — nothing is uploaded.

Character speed (wpm) follows common CW convention: one PARIS word per minute at that speed. Farnsworth spacing, if enabled in the trainer UI, lengthens gaps between letters without dragging dots and dashes, which matches how many instructors teach per ITU-R M.1677-1 timing ratios.

Koch lessons 1–8 have dedicated write-ups on the Koch hub. When you open source=koch&lesson=5, the trainer limits characters to the lesson 5 set until you advance manually. Share the link in club email or classroom chat so everyone starts aligned.

Modules include character quiz, word list, headline paste, and QSO simulator seeds. Use source=qso&seed=42 to replay the same synthetic exchange. For microphone decoding after practice, try the decoder.

Amateur operators preparing for on-air copy should pair web drills with licensed operating practice; the ARRL learning hub lists licensing steps in the United States. Wikipedia’s Morse code article links primary history sources if you are writing a school report.

Daily habit beats long cram sessions: ten minutes at a steady WPM, log mistakes, retry tomorrow at the same speed. Raise WPM only when recent accuracy in the active character set stays near ninety percent — the same mastery rule Koch courses use.

About MorseCoder

Independent Morse tools · ITU-R M.1677-1 · No fabricated operator identity

These pages document a free browser translator and trainer. Timing follows International Morse (ITU-R M.1677-1). We do not claim an FCC callsign or Extra Class license for the site operator. Use the tools for practice; licensed instruction still matters for on-air work.
